    Greetings everyone,

    In my time of being a moderator within this community I've seen a lot of discussions about our current and previous map rotations. Often which these discussions are happening on discord or in-game. While although discord is a great way for our community to communicate with one another it's also apparent that a lot of excellent suggestions and important criticisms are lost in the past. I wanted to create this thread to have an unofficial ongoing conversation, that wasn't real-time, for everyone to utilize and contribute too.

    A way for our community members to help express their views on how a map should specifically be balanced. To talk about what works and what doesn't. Community feedback is not only imperative to properly balancing something but also for creating a healthy environment. Ultimately, by creating this thread, I hope to begin building the foundation in which our community can take an active role in our balancing process, so that we might all enjoy the gamemode that's brought us together in the first place. Bellow I've provided information about maps that you might be able to utilize for your discussions.

    Can we like do something about the fact that hoodoo is only played for the easter egg?

    Honestly, from my personal experience (and this also just might be because I haven't been around for the past few weeks.), I hardly ever see the map picked at all. I don't have any issues if Jack5 wants to change the code every time it's discovered as long as players get a month or so to play around with the easter eg. What do you suggest?

    The code is a necessary part of the map as it is a callback to Zombie Survival Viaduct. Removing it would be doing a disservice to Yellow Sage (Redd). People simply need to learn on their own accord that there is no way to get into the disco anymore. I have already updated the English file that appears at the start of the map with this information.

    Not looking to remove the easter egg. Simply wanting to move past it being a moderator-only type event as it doesn't already bode well with everyone else. I think it can be agreed upon that so long as you let players to have fun with the code once discovered before changing it then everyone can be happy about it.

    I know that the argument would be that in doing so the roof spot would be at a severe disadvantage but honestly I don't personally think that would change the gameplay for the map all too much given that people would just be using the easter egg spot anyways.

    So why exactly did we need 2fort purple again?
    The map doesn't change much about it and personally I dislike removing the water alot.

    2Fort Purple is Purple Fish's creation, the same guy that made Kart Double Deck possible. This is his attempt at resolving the problems with 2Fort (normal and invasion version), and it appears to have worked. I am aware that the map is rather barren in terms of possible areas, but that is something that he is working on. Everyone who plays TF2 should be aware of the download folder and be able to delete unplayed maps and move common ones to the normal maps folder.

    why would common ones need to be moved to the maps folder? it also prevents it from being overwritten which is bad for updating maps without version iterations

    I'm pretty sure Team Fortress 2 doesn't let you overwrite maps in the downloads folder anyway.

    i think it does but you cant overwrite maps in the main maps folders

    Only if using a Steam workshop map downloaded with the Steamworks api will a map overwrite itself on a client as it is like any workshop update within the usual ..steamapps\workshop\content\440 directory. If the map is on a fastdl with say a map from gamebanana or tf2maps ie not hosted on the workshop, Valve does not let the TF2 client delete or overwrite any of its files even within the downloads directory - most likely for security.

    This is why map makers make a version increment in the map name so that people do not get the version differs message if an update is made to a map, which if they don't do that a client would have to manually delete the old version.

    Ah right. A shame.

    So valve won't add meta stuff like that to tf2 but then they try to turn the main game into csgo by adding stuff like picking up wepons

    either way i think my point here is done but jACK5 PLEASE ADD THE DISCO BACK
